About Course
Our team built an ocean buoy system designed to monitor water quality by recording algal blooms. Using the ESP32 development board as the central controller, the buoy connects to sensors such as the turbidity sensor to measure water clarity, which indicated the presence and intensity of algae. The data collected will be logged onto an SD card card with the SD card logging module.
The electronics are placed in a waterproof container attached to a large plastic buoy, ensuring the system floats and withstands ocean conditions. Rope will secure the buoy and components all together and power will be supplied via a USB power bank. These connections were insulated with electrical tape for safety and durability.
This setup allowed for continuous, real time monitoring of water turbidity to track algal blooms, providing valuable data for environment studies.
